Perhaps, along with change, it may be wise to learn to put regrets to death before we die. This is difficult. It is the forgiveness of oneself... very tough to do with clarity and purity. We all have things we would have done differently, and so we can heed this and go forward.
We can also learn that at any given point in time, we did what we thought was necessary and we made choices. Those are two very important aspects of being human. At any given time, we are doing the best we can do with what we know and with what we are feeling.
We need not only to forgive ourselves, but to see our triumphs amid our regrets. We are not one-sided beings. We are not uni-dimensional, spending our lives in mistake after mistake, leading to regret after regret.
We are triumphant beings who have lived life, survived ourselves and others, and are transitioning to a triumphant, and loving, God.
