Surely the LORD is in This Place is a compilation of Richard Gross' first year of daily devotions written for the staff of the Hospice Home in Burlington, NC (a most wonderful group of Nurses, CNA's, Social Workers, Volunteers and others). There he served as Chaplain.
They were written to the staff often as personal musings, lessons and sharing of experiences, hopefully to be of some inspiration and encouragement, even as the staff inspired and encouraged him by their faithful work. They are offered to you in the same spirit. They are slices of his life (at work and away from work) and observations during that first year, with co-workers as the audience, life as the focus and God as the center. Richard draws predominantly from Biblical wisdom, and incorporates spiritual wisdom from varied spiritual and secular sources, and his own life experience. Hospice workers, fellow Church goers and others have found them to be very inspirational. |
Here are samples of comments about the book as it unfolded over the year:
"I have really enjoyed all of the devotions you have sent out. They help ‘ground' me..."
"Thanks for taking the time to write your devotionals. You are very supportive of us here. Thanks..."
"Thanks for continuing to write these; they are good food for thought..."
